Emberkit INVOICES

A PRACTICAL WALKTHROUGH

Track work. Review hours. Create an invoice.

Start with a 90-minute sample task. You will finish with a timesheet and an invoice draft ready to review.

  1. Open the workspace

Visit Time and click Open free time tracker. Try sample details if you want to learn with example information. Nothing uploads in local mode.

  2. Describe the work

Enter a customer, project, description, hourly rate and USD or CAD. Previously used customer and project names appear as suggestions. Turn Billable work off for internal tasks.

  3. Start and stop a timer

Click Start timer when work begins, then Stop timer & save. The timer keeps its original customer and rate even if you edit the entry form. It survives reloads on the same browser. Stop within 24 hours; partial minutes round up. A timer crossing midnight is recorded on its start date.

  4. Or add time manually

Choose the work date and enter 1–1440 minutes, then Add manual entry. For example, 90 minutes at US$60/hour is US$240. Longer tasks need separate daily entries.

  5. Review the date range

From and Through initially show the current week to today. Change them to see earlier work. Check dates, minutes and billable status. For a correction, delete the incorrect entry and add the correct one; invoiced entries should be corrected in the invoice separately.

  6. Download a timesheet

Download timesheet PDF gives a readable report. Download timesheet CSV gives spreadsheet columns. Both include billable and nonbillable work in the selected date range. CSV supports all text; the PDF font supports Latin, Greek and Cyrillic.

  7. Create an invoice draft

Select 1–100 billable, uninvoiced entries for the same customer and currency, then Create invoice from selected. Each entry becomes a line with minutes and hourly rate in the description; its amount is rounded to cents. Creating a draft marks entries invoiced, even before PDF download.

  8. Review the invoice

Click Open invoice draft. Complete business details, due date and applicable taxes. Preview and download the PDF. This does not email your client, collect payment or confirm payment. Mark paid manually after verifying payment elsewhere.

  9. Back up your work

Export time backup saves all entries as JSON, including invoiced markers. Import replaces the device timesheet after confirmation. Download invoice backups separately from the invoice workspace. Browser data is not a substitute for a backup.

  10. Use optional cloud saving

Sign in to Emberkit, return here and click Connect / load cloud. Invoice Pro and Unlimited include cloud time saving. Loading replaces device entries after confirmation; export a backup first. Stop any timer before saving. Save timesheet to cloud uploads entries only after explicit confirmation.

  11. Move between devices safely

Load the latest cloud timesheet before editing on another device. Cloud saves and invoice creation check revisions; if another device saved first, your request is rejected. Export your local backup before loading the latest version and re-enter any unsaved work. There is no automatic merge or background sync.

  12. Understand limits and recovery

Free local tracking holds up to 20,000 entries per browser. Cloud allows 5,000 on Pro or 20,000 on Unlimited, up to 2 MiB within shared invoice storage. Export older work before deleting it. If a cloud invoice was created but your connection failed, load cloud again and open its linked invoice. After cancellation, saved cloud time remains readable and can be deleted using Delete cloud timesheet; new cloud writes require an active plan.
